John recently authored the Personal Action Journal (a 42-day journey to make poverty personal) as part of The Hole in Our Gospel Six-Week Quest, based on the book by Richard E. Stearns. The six-week church campaign is a project of CrossSection, founded by Jason Pearson and Doug Martinez. Oct. 25, 2009: 60 Leaders Integrate the Buckets. Christian Camping International/Canada hosted John at their bi-annual Executive Leadership Institute in Manitoba, Oct. 25-29. The camp and conference center leaders read Mastering the Management Buckets prior to attending the ELI. One leader told Pearson, "We have two seasons in Manitoba: frostbite and mosquito bite!" John will be a guest on the Pat Williams Show on WTLN AM 950 in Orlando, Fla., Saturday at 7:00 p.m. EDT. The talk radio program is broadcast throughout Central Florida. The Network Journal: Black Professionals and Small Business Magazine reviewed Buckets in their October issue. Trinity International University, a community of four schools in the U.S., noted John Pearson's book, Mastering the Management Buckets, in the Fall 2008 issue of Trinity Magazine. John is a 1970 graduate (M.A.) of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Ill. So a "prophet without honor" is not always true. That's encouraging. Aug. 12, 2008: KKLA Radio. John Pearson was interviewed today on KKLA-FM (99.5 FM in Los Angeles) by afternoon drive-time radio host, Frank Pastore. It was John's fourth radio interview today with stations across America. July 29, 2008: Earthquake! BREAKING NEWS! How's this for irony? This morning, John Pearson was in his second floor office in San Clemente, California, and the rocking and rolling started. Earthquake! He was on the phone with a print reporter for an interview on "The Crisis Bucket," one of the 20 buckets in Mastering the Management Buckets. After commenting to the reporter that companies need to "drill, drill and drill again" in the Crisis Bucket (in case of earthquake, flood, fire or other crises), the 5.4 earthquake interrupted the interview! Yikes! It was the most severe earthquake John has experienced in his 15 years in California. "But, after 21 winters in Chicago, I'll still take my chances here in beautiful Southern Cal," he responded. "We don't need snow shovels here." July 26, 2008: NACBA Ledger. "Mastering the Management Buckets: The Five Strategic Balls in the Operations Bucket," (a five-page article by John Pearson) was published in the Summer 2008 issue of NACBA Ledger, a journal of the National Association of Church Business Administration, a professional network of 3,000 church administration leaders from 66 faith groups in America. "Operations often get a bad rap, " wrote Pearson, "yet a well-functioning church must have gifted people who delight in executing the core competencies in the Operations Bucket."
